This is the second time Matt has worked with Butterfly Theatre, following his appearance in The Taming of the Shrew at the Wheatsheaf in 2018. As an actor, Matt has appeared in a number of shows for UTAG (Don Juan in Soho, As You Like It, The Way of the World, Henry V and The Two Gentlemen of Verona), Therry (An Inspector Calls), St Jude’s Players (The Importance of Being Earnest) and Stirling Players (Nell Gwynn). This is Matt’s second time as a Director, working alongside Angela, following Seventeen for the University of Adelaide Theatre in 2019. Matt has completed a BA
at Flinders University with an extended major in Drama.
Phil Short has been composing music for films, theatre, and podcasts for the last 10 years. He also writes and performs with an original band called The Crooked Line at venues around Adelaide. Phil has also provided live music for Adelaide University Theatre Guild and Blue Sky Theatre.
Angela trained at Mountview Conservatoire for the Performing Arts in London. In her final year she worked with Vanessa Redgrave in Perestroika. She worked initially in Panto and children’s shows and
then toured with Bill Kenwright’s production of The Mysterious Mr Love playing Adelaide Pinchin.
Since moving to Australia in 2010 she has acted and directed for The Adelaide University Theatre Guild and Therry Theatrical Society. She is currently completing her third season with Blue Sky Theatre in She Stoops to Conquer. This is her third show co-directing with Matt Chapman…..you would think he had learned his lesson by now!
Robert has performed throughout Adelaide since 2011. He’s won two ATG Best Male Performance Awards for his roles in Jesus Christ Superstar and The Elephant Man, where he also won an ACC Individual Award. Other highlights include Ginger in Jerusalem, Michal in The Pillowman (UATG), Charles in School for Scandal, Christian in Cyrano de Bergerac (Blue Sky Theatre), Don in Butterflies Are Free (St. Judes) and in the titular role of Caligula (Red Phoenix), which earned him nominations from ATG, ACC and TASA.
